Jewellery
“Reminds me of the Beauty that is found in Nature” quote from a customer.
The style of jewellery I make is inspired by nature. The night sky pendant is a great example of a piece I enjoyed creating. I will explain the process I followed to create these lovely pieces of jewellery.
The Process:
The process I follow to create a piece of night sky pendant jewellery is described below.
My first task was to choose the desired piece of wood with the correct look, I then sand the wood smooth from 40 grit through to 320 grit.
I then created a box to house the wood during the resin pour, I place the wood within the box at the desired orientation and I clamp it in place to prevent movement during the pour.
I mixed the resin to the desired colour and I add the glitter to create the star scene. The resin was then poured and left for 36 hrs to cure completely.
I then break the box open to remove the solid piece, I then cut the general shape I want on the bandsaw, I then proceeded to sand the project to the final shape.
Polishing:
Once I am happy with the design, the product is again sanded from 240 grit through to 7000 grit and a bail hole is drilled.
The finished product is then polished to a high shine and boxed up ready for sale.
Examples of other nature inspired pieces of jewellery I create can be found on the jewellery page on the website.
